Waterloo Bridge

It’s been a while. It’s summer, I’ve been on holiday, so nothing much has happened. I will post some gig reviews over the next few days. But for now, an entry not so much about an activity, but about a bridge. Waterloo Bridge. One of my favourite spots in London. ‘Why?’, I hear you ask. Well… here’s why

I was on my way back from Covent Garden today. I was on my bike. Tube strike and all, I decided to take my bike straight from work into town for drinkage with other Dutch people. On the way back I had to cross Waterloo Bridge. It literally took my breath away. Granted, this many buses and taxis do this to your lungs, but the views from Waterloo Bridge… I should go back and take photos this weekend, so I can show you. Going south, on your right is Hungerford Bridge, the South Bank Centre, the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and Charing Cross Station. On your left is Canary Wharf, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin, the National Theatre with its purple lit-up fly-tower. Especially when it’s dark. It was all illuminated, sod carbon footprint, this is a view that is so stunning, it makes you feel vibrant and alive.

For me, crossing that bridge, whether it’s on foot, on the bus or now on my trusted bicycle, makes me feel part of this amazing and beautiful city.

I just wanted to share.
