Dalí & Film – Tate Modern
Now, I am not an art buff. I had my fair share of art theory and history courses when I did my degree. I found it interesting enough, but I am a theatre girl at heart and when it comes to art I like it or I don’t. It’s as simple as that. Some times I know a bit about the background of the artist in order to ‘get it’ beyong liking or disliking, but I’m fairly straight-forward and artsy-fartsy nonsense doesn’t usually fly with me.
On Wednesday I attended a private viewing of the Dalí & Film exhibition at the Tate Modern. A friend of mine had two free tickets through work and I don’t tend to say no to free stuff. So along I went. I like Dalí, his work fascinates me. I am never a fan of exhibitions to be honest. I have been to a few in my life and most of the time they end up being a disappointment, I remember the Vivienne Westwood exhibition at the V&A a while back. What a waste of money and 30 minutes that was…
This Dalí & Film exhibition pleasantly surprised me. (more…)
